John Passacantando of the Eco-Accountability Project talks about the importance of activism. “When we encounter Goliath on our travels, trip him up.” Democracy is a do-it-yourself endeavor that we must all participate in and tend every day. “Who is our Goliath,” Passacantando asks, “and how do we trip him up?” Corporations are the beating heart of American society, but they have consolidated too much power, interfere too much in politics, and have begun ruling over people instead of serving them. Passacantando highlights some activists who are doing their utmost to defend democracy.
