Souza, a PhD candidate at UF, is studying the effects of Carnivale in Brazil as an expression of national identity and ideology. But she came to frank to talk about her experiences as a local performing artist (recently seen in frank2015’s opening ceremonies). Souza’s company, which she runs with her husband, is dedicated to “connecting communities through cultural change.” Through projects focused on performing arts, they look into the value of living, intangible heritage.
