“Story sharers are the architects of culture, and the stories they share are the building blocks of our world,” says Chandra Harris-McCray. Making storytelling inclusive requires practitioners to provide authentic methods for sharing and value humanizing story frames. The role of story sharers is to avoid objectification and show that people are more than their challenges and experiences. In this talk, Harris-McCray discusses how acknowledging the aspirations, humanity, and legacy of storytellers is key to sharing person-first narratives and holding space for authenticity.
